Bio

Dr. Steven Lewis was born and raised in Caldwell, N.J. before attending Cook College at Rutgers University. He then spent one year at Ross University in St. Kitts, after which he transferred to Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Lewis then went on to complete a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at VREC in Norwalk, CT, where he developed a passion for ultrasonography.

Dr. Lewis entered general practice in August of 2004 at Iselin Veterinary Hospital and worked general and emergency medicine for seven years while serving as Medical Director for three years at Central Jersey Veterinary Emergency Service, performing in house ultrasound exams for both Iselin and Woodbridge Veterinary Hospitals.

For the ten years before joining American Animal Hospital, Dr. Lewis invested an enormous amount of time and effort into becoming proficient at oral surgery while advancing his ultrasound ability as a veterinarian at Eagle Rock Veterinary Hospital. He is a member of the Tri-State Veterinary Dental Society, the NJVMA, and AVMA.

His myriad of outside interests includes cooking (ask him about his quest to hand form every pasta shape on earth!), gardening, hot yoga, reading about cars, and spending time with his amazing family. His wife April is a veterinary technician, and he has two children, a son Spencer and daughter Francis. He and his family reside in Shongum Lake with their three dogs, three cats, and a group of pampered fish.

Dr. Lewis has always wanted to be a veterinarian and feels lucky to be literally living his dream every day he comes into the office.
